The expert presenters will educate your guests while they experience a range of quality wines, whiskies or spirits, and all tastings are personally designed to accommodate any individual requests.

The Oak Barrel brings the cellar door to the city offering spirits and wine education classes in a relaxed and intimate environment. The Cellar Room is a charming private space that can host 10-100 guests and is home to The Oak Barrel’s wine, beer and spirits tastings.

The Cocktail Masterclass is an interactive course great for birthdays, stags or hens nights. Kick-start your evening by shaking up a few cocktails, which can be named as you wish and themed to suit your party giving you a truly personal masterclass, from $60pp. The Oak Barrel also offers Beer Appreciation classes, which are bespoke and start from $55pp.

No kilt required to enjoy the Highland Fling Scotch Tasting, which invites you to try six selected whiskies that demonstrate a typical style, area or vintage. During the 2-hour course, the presenter will guide you through the whiskies, giving your group a bit of background as well as teaching how to identify flavour characteristics, $85pp with 20 people minimum.

Last but surely not least, are Wine Tastings at The Oak Barrel, with three options to choose from. The Cellar Room tasting offers a flight of 4 wines that showcase a typical wine style, area or vintage, $55pp; The Superior offers a selection of six reserve or imported wines that focus on a particular style or grape variety, $75pp; or The Vineyard Premium which can include eight iconic Australian and international wines, or wines of the same grape variety from different areas of the world, the choice is yours, $115pp. Wine and whisky tastings traditionally run from 6:30-8:30pm and packages include venue hire, cheese, crackers, water, glassware and a knowledgeable presenter to ensure your experience is first-class.

All packages can be tailored to suit your party, with a number of optional extras available such as sparkling wine, champagne or beer on arrival, antipasto platters and additional wines included in the flights.

The Oak Barrel also offers private hire of the Cellar Room, providing a unique space for your next dinner party or celebration. Full catering is offered and degustation or a la carte dinner quotes are available on request.
